I was agitated yesterday morning about the kid who didn't catch the ball and then had a crying fit.... but I have some deliciously fabulous news this morning regarding that!
Last night before I turned it, I took a quick spin through the inter-web to update myself on a few news stories and such .. and the parents of the kid who didn't catch the Texas Rangers ball are totally cool people, as are the people who didn't give the kid the ball to the crying kid so there's a good possibility all is going to be okay with the world.
In the Today Show clip below, the incident is recapped and then the parents are interviewed. They seem like super nice folks and said that they were actually trying to keep the kid and his uproar hidden from the folks who had caught the ball. The couple who caught the ball was attending their first Rangers' game together (I think it said..) and they were getting married the next day...
Give 'em a few years and one of 'em's gonna wish that ball had pegged
the other one right in the noggin....haha, I'm kidding of course...
People are actually giving the couple a hard time though... I can't tell you how many blog posts I saw berating the couple for keeping the ball... I find that incredibly sickening...
The parents of the little boy stated that after realizing what happened, the couple had offered to give the boy the ball and they declined because they want him to know that he doesn't always get everything that comes along... to that I say "BRAVO!"
You pantywaists who think that "horrible, God-awful, mean couple" should have given the kid the ball should be glad you weren't there the day I deflated a kid's beach ball and tossed it back to him at Thunder Over Louisville in 2006ish... that was a little uncomfy for a few minutes, but I prefaced the deflating of the beach ball with a whoooole lot of very logical conversation to try and get him to stop... eh, I'll tell you about it one day...
