Updates in the World of Ocho...
I'm Just Gonna Rip it Off Like a Band-Aid...
(In several installments)
Part 3a -
A New Location, a New Adventure and Feeding the Birds
This all feels so new, yet so comfortable and I'm taking that as an amazing and wonderful sign.
I've asked God and the Universe for signs... and I've had them ten fold. Any doubts and uneasiness that I felt as this all began to unfold have decreased immensely and continue to fade as the days go on...
I haven't stayed at the Ocho in a few weeks or a little more and I've really barely been there. That's all going to start shuffling a bit though.. the time has come (the walrus said) to get that place packed up and merge it over here, with the House on Pooh Corner...
I turned in my 30 day notice at the Ocho Friday morning and paid my rent for March... the emptying out, packing and cleaning of that place is going to be a large undertaking - almost mind boggling.
Right now we've just been stopping in here and there when I think of something I need or want over there. I ran over day before yesterday and gathered all of my coffee and java machines and accouterments and I made some pretty fantastic progress on the java bar area this morning.
I've done quite a bit of remixing in the last week as I've moved some of my things in and I've tried to take one area a day and totally remix it. Yesterday morning I moved the living room around a bit, adjusting the desk space so that it will hold two laptops without anyone feeling crunched up and emptied out and dusted the beautiful built in shelves in the corner... I'm going to share a lot of the decorating and remixing ideas here as time goes on and though I haven't shown you any pictures, I have been taking them here as I start shuffling our stuff...

I'm anxious to bring you a little footage of the bird sanctuary I'm creating for us as the week goes on...It's been so cold for the last few days I haven't wanted to go outside and play much - but it looks like the weather is going to be fantastic on Thursday... consider me unavailable...
Sha Na Na and Shazbot Moonbeam are as settled in as they could possibly be and they continue to be more mesmerized every afternoon as the bird sanctuary grows and the chirping and singing of our feathered friends grows louder and louder...

I'm so excited for the weather to break so I can start cleaning out the flower beds and fence rows that have been forgotten... I'm anxious to plant a patch of Sweet Annie and a patch of White Sage for sure...
So far the only outside thing I've done is put seed out for the birds every day. That can run into a lot of money if you're not careful. MY suggestion is to buy the big bag of 'regular bird seed'. *I can't recall the brand, but they'll have it anywhere bird seed is sold... the Dollar Store, Family Dollar, Walmart, etc. * Anywho... get the big bag of 'regular seed and then get some smaller bags of black sunflower seed and some of the "fancier seeds" that bring in the more lovely feathered creatures.
Now then, take all of that seed and figure out how large of a container you need, go to the Dollar Store and get it.
If you buy in a large quantity, you may need something like a 'big ole trash can' to mix it in and something smaller like a plastic pitcher from the Dollar Store to transport it around the yard.
The first few times of the year I seed for the birds, I seed everywhere! I walk around with a pitcher full of seed and sprinkle it around the whole yard ((think along the lines of sprinkling, not 'pouring'))
Then I go fill another pitcher and make small piles around trees in 'ungrassy spots', on top of the tree roots makes a wonderful little dish if you find the right spot...
and now at the House at Pooh Corner, there are these amazing windows in the living room and just outside of them is a very long patio rail.
I make it a point to seed along that in the morning while I'm having my java and again around afternoon-ish time - try to get it out there at least 3 hours before dark if possible - and that will become easier when the time changes... I've gotten very used to having a tremendous bird show while we catch up in the afternoons over java DVR'd Ellen and the news...
So anywho... things are going well to say the least. There have been a lot of adjustments ... for him and for me, but oddly enough - things just seem to work themselves out as they arrive...
Have a Grand and Groovy Day!
