I'm editing and uploading my fruits from the Massac High School 1991 and 1992 Reunion last night.  This happened to be my own class

reunion, I wasn't "on the clock" -
but I don't sit well, so I was happiest when up shooting.

As I've worked on the images from last night,
my mind has wandered to reunions past....

At the ten year reunion in 2002, Mendy, Miranda, Sabrina and I got the bright idea that we should take a group shot at that reunion and each one thereafter.

 That seemed like a great idea then... in 2002... at the TEN year reunion.

It doesn't even seem possible that twenty years have passed...
While I was looking for these pictures I have found a few other vintage reunion gathering Massac County Class o' 92 goodies and I may pop a few of those into a blog later this evening for your viewing pleasure...
and for the love of God, let's all be on the lookout for that b*tch who stole Duane's lawn mower!

A Bit About Small Business Saturday

You've no doubt heard a lot about Small Business Saturday by now ... but I have a special interest in Small Business Saturday.  I'm from a small town and I currently "live in that same small town" and I think I've decided to plant my feet here for a while.  The problem being however that our little town seems to be taking quite a hit in the last few months to several years... Layoffs at one of the major plants, restaurants that have been there as long as I can remember - closing down at a moment's notice, seldom does a week go by that I don't hear at least a rumor of something closing down because there's just not enough business to handle the overhead.

I've been reading a bit about Small Business Saturday this week and I've found some information you might enjoy ... I hope you'll share it.  Regardless of whether you're in my small town or another small town - the face of retail and commerce is changing.  "Mom and Pops" really have to step up and meet the bar.  

I made a stop into a "Mom and Pop" shop about a week ago to send a fax.  While I waited for her to send the fax I asked if they had a facebook or if they had another way to reach their local customers to promote shipping at this time of year... They have no Facebook... People "know they're there"... Yup - sadly a lot of small business owners tend to say that... 

Be sure and click to subscribe and whatnot ... If the roof doesn't fall in I'm going to schedule some posts to come along behind this one about the birthing of a 12 Month Long "Shop Metropolis" campaign.  It's NOT feasible to shop Metropolis ALWAYS.  If you go to Hitterman's to get something and it's three times as much as it is at Lowe's - then obviously you have to go to Lowe's unless you've just got surplus money, but for the love of Peter, Paul and Mary ... let's at least start checking the local stores before we take off to booming Paducah, further killing our town.

"I Only Wear Red One Day a Year" is "that Kentucky crap" ... I Beg to Differ... Go Cats!

I was simply devastated to find that one of my friends had referred to my blue santa as "that Kentucky crap" when seeing it go through the news feed earlier this week.  I am truly a Kentucky fan - as you

learned here the day after Kentucky won the Championship - but I haven't always been... 

Way back many moons ago when I was a delightfully optimistic young dahling, I realized very quickly that College Basketball season was going to be quite similar to the hunting seasons I had witnessed growing up at the folks' and if I wanted any quality time with my later-to-be-ex-hubby during the fall I needed to get in the loop.

I arrived in the E.R. waiting room, sat down and grabbed my phone as to get my brothers up to speed with things.  Just about the time I started to dial Kev, I heard a creaking door and a muffled cough.  As I looked up, my Dad was sauntering across the waiting room looking more on edge than usual...

Boy is my noggin ever full today... I've sat down to write literally almost every day since my last post and it always winds up falling back into my drafts.  

Something has been mentally screwing with me for a while now and it may have come to fruition yesterday morning when I got a text from Mom that said she and dad were on the way to the E.R., her blood pressure was 240/140 and please get a prayer chain started.  

I felt "as weak as a cat" as my Mom says... I made a post and tagged her page on Facebook to get some prayers happening.  I have a friend who was surprised to read in my Mom's blog several months ago that she had called me because she needed a prayer partner while they were on a trip and having a situation with their bike.  I totally believe in the power of prayer.  I totally believe in a higher power that can bestow grace and/or mercy on us.  I also believe in the power of the Universe to unfold in the way that it should for reasons we may not understand. I believe in many things... I'm not lacking on open mindedness.  

Don't Blame Me... I Voted for Johnson...

I'm hoping now that both "major parties" have fallen prey to the Electoral College that people will begin to understand that our voting system as it currently stands is a mess... 

As I said in yesterday's blog...

""

Tuesday - November 6th - Election Day - 8 a.m.

I made a definitive choice on a very important decision last night.  

I decided that I will vote for neither "major party" candidate and I will cast my vote for Libertarian, Gary Johnson - as 5% of for Gary Johnson means that we will see more variety on the ballot in 2016.

Some people say, "That's a wasted vote...  

To them I say, "I watched the news just last night and my state is already colored in.. so it's evidently okay." 

Our two party system is a failure ... 

it's the "haves" arguing against the "have nots" and vice versa... 

I personally feel that the largest problem we have is the voting system in this country.  I feel relatively informed on this topic as I've spent a tremendous amount of time lately listening to documentaries while editing pics and googling any little question I had about what I had learned.  I continue to study it because obviously we should never stop learning... 

We're taught about our country's voting system.  If I'm not mistaken, I memorized it as a Senior in High School and regurgitated it onto a test... Just months later I voted in my first election... More on that later... 

The point is, we see it ... but we don't demand that it be changed.  I don't think anyone likes it ((Except of course for the major party candidates that it benefits)) Yet we all just go along apathetically every four years and keep our mouths shut and do it the way we've always done it.  Obviously some would still vote for "major party candidates", but not everyone would.

I'll tell you this... if Gary Johnson would have been on the same stage with President Obama and Mitt Romney during any of the three debates, you would have heard some solutions rather than witnessing a pissing match.

Vote for whomever you wish today... Nothing on earth is more important than following what your gut tells you to do.  I'm going to listen to my gut and I hope you'll do the same.
